This study aimed to identify the impact of knowledge management processes on improving the performance of healthcare services. It was conducted in 2023 at Gharyan Teaching Hospital. The descriptive–analytical approach was adopted by presenting relevant concepts and models within the theoretical framework and carrying out a field study.
The study sample was selected from the administrative, service, and medical staff, including senior management, department managers, heads of departments and units, physicians, and providers of medical and allied health services. The total sample size was (350) respondents, of whom only (287) valid responses were received and included in the analysis. The questionnaire was used as the primary data collection tool, and its results were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS).
The findings revealed a statistically significant relationship between the three knowledge management processes (knowledge generation, knowledge sharing, and knowledge application) and improved performance in the delivery of healthcare services.
Among the main conclusions of the study was that most respondents demonstrated a limited understanding of the concept of knowledge management, along with confusion between knowledge, information, and information systems. In addition, there was a lack of awareness regarding the volume of information possessed by the hospital and how it could be effectively utilized. Based on these findings, the researchers recommended establishing an administrative and organizational unit dedicated to knowledge management and promoting it through conferences, seminars, and workshops so that it becomes part of the hospital’s organizational culture. They also emphasized the importance of preparing qualified personnel, allocating appropriate budgets, and focusing on continuous training and development.
